HYDERABAD:
BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday dared chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to make
TRS turncoat MLAs resign and face fresh by-elections.
Claiming that BJP is omnipresent in Telangana and the only alternative to TRS, Sanjay said some leaders were questioning BJP's presence in Nalgonda. "They were asking where is BJP in Nalgonda. We have shown where we stand in Nalgonda.
We have bagged more than 80,000 votes in Munugode which indicates the growing popularity of the BJP in Nalgonda and entire Telangana," he said at a press conference here .
Sanjay continued his aggressive posturing, saying that they will not be dejected by one defeat and keep working for the people. "We have certain standards. We made K Raj Gopal Reddy seek a fresh mandate after he joined our party. Is CM KCR ready to make turncoat MLAs resign and contest again? Munugode election result has clearly shown that we are the only alternative to TRS. BJP is spreading everywhere in Telangana," he said.
He said the days of
Congress were over in the state. "The CM tried everything to defeat us. He even tried to give a lift the Congress in this election. We are fighting along, while left parties, Congress and TRS got together to defeat us. Despite all its efforts, TRS could secure a majority of only 10,000-odd votes.
"Those who questioned BJP's credentials in Nalgonda district got a thumping answer from people," he said.
Sanjay demanded that the chief minister implement all the promises he had made to the people of Munugode. "Let him fulfil them first or else, we will fight this government," he said. Sanjay along with Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman claimed that Election Commission officials delayed in announcing round-by-round counting results. "The officials were working in tandem with the TRS," Laxman said.
